Street Department
The City's Street Department creates a safe, inviting, and aesthetically pleasing environment for residents and visitors alike, promoting economic development and enhancing quality of life. The Street Department is located at 1120 Wynette Road, Sylacauga, AL 35151, and hours of operation are Monday-Thursday, 6:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., and Friday 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. The office can be reached at 256-401-2586 or by fax at 256-401-2585.
Street Department services include maintaining and repairing streets, sidewalks, gutters, right of way canals, culverts, and related storm water drainage. The Department sets up and maintains street signs and markers as well as maintains curb appeal for city-owned property by cutting grass, planting and maintaining shrubbery, and trimming and disposal of trees. Excavation, demolition, and related site preparation activities are the responsibility of the Street Department as are various construction, maintenance, and cleaning projects. The Street Department carries out these tasks while promoting a safe working environment with the use of safety equipment and safe operation of equipment.
Street Department employees are on-call during inclement weather to clear streets and roads. The Street Department also participates in community events throughout the year such as the Christmas Parade, the Marble Festival, and holidays.
