Fire Department Questions
Q. How often and when are the emergency warning sirens tested?
A. Talladega County has 88 sirens located throughout the county, and testing is part of normal maintenance. The Talladega County EMA tests/activates all sirens at 4:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. If inclement weather is predicted, sirens will not be tested. The make-up day for siren tests will be the same week but on Thursday at 10:00 a.m., weather permitting. Talladega County EMA sends alerts and notifications via Nixle, Facebook, and Twitter to inform communities of the siren test.
PLEASE NOTE: Sirens are an outdoor warning system only. They are not intended to be heard indoors. The main purpose of the sirens is to warn individuals that are outdoors to seek immediate shelter. If a siren in your area fails to activate, please contact the TCEMA at 256-761-2125.
